San Gimignano and the hills around it are one of the most fascinating areas in Tuscany. Volterra, Siena, Radicondoli, Radda are the most popular villages nearby. Chianti is well-known all over the world for its enchanting views on vineyards and olive groves. This countryside is the perfect place for long walks taking beautiful pictures and horse riding. Thanks to a mild climate, San Gimignano and its surroundings offer a wide choice of activities that can be enjoyed all year long.
The exquisite local food and Chianti wine are probably one of the best feature here: there are many excellent and very well-known excellent restaurants.

San Gimignano is famous for its beautiful towers. Once the village used to represent an important relay point for pilgrims traveling on the Via Francigena. The patrician families who controlled the town built around 72 high towers as symbols of their wealth and power. Today only 14 towers are still there to evoke the grandeur in feudal times.

The center of San Gimignano is really tiny: you can cross from one Town Door to the opposite one in less than 10 minutes!
